ABOUT US

“You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them.”

OUR TEAM

LIPPA & TARQUIN WOOD
Lippa and Tarquin are conservation entrepreneurs who have spent over a decade working alongside communities in the Maasai Mara to restore degraded land, rebuild biodiversity, and create conservation-led livelihoods.

Their journey began with the transformation of over-farmed land into thriving rangeland and grew into community conservancies, conservation-driven tourism, and long-term partnerships with landowners. They believe deeply that conservation must work economically for communities to endure—and that trust, dignity, and collaboration are the foundations of lasting impact.
Futures in the Wild reflects their long-term commitment to people, land, and shared futures.

OMAR MIR
Co-Founder, Futures in the Wild Trust
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
This African proverb reflects the collaborative spirit at the heart of Futures in the Wild and our partnership with Omar Mir, a Co-Founder of the organisation.
Omar and Tarquin first connected through shared time in the Maasai Mara and a mutual interest in supporting locally led, long-term conservation and community initiatives. Through conversation and collaboration, a values-aligned partnership emerged — grounded in the belief that conservation is most powerful when shaped and led by the communities who live alongside wildlife.
Through his involvement with Futures in the Wild, Omar supports a vision of conservation that places people at its centre — strengthening community resilience, protecting biodiversity, and fostering long-term partnerships that allow both wildlife and local livelihoods to flourish. This approach lies at the core of Futures in the Wild and the collaborations that sustain its work.
Omar brings a values-led perspective, shaped by a distinguished British–African heritage founded upon service, stewardship, and responsibility. Descended from a family that made enduring contributions to Kenya’s development in the years preceding independence—across vital sectors including the railway infrastructure and the armed forces—he upholds a legacy marked by integrity, foresight, and profound respect for both people and place, committed to a better tomorrow for all.
